GT racing regulars Rosso Verde/Scorpio Racing will field British Formula 4 newcomer Christian Lester for the final two rounds of the 2018 championship.

Lester, son of former British GT driver Hector, only started racing this season and will be taking the step into single seaters after a handful of Ford Fiesta outings earlier this year.

The 20-year-old made his F4 testing debut at Croft in June where he finished six seconds off the pace, but has continued to improve as he’s spent more time in the car, finishing 13th quickest in the first free practice session at Silverstone.

“Let’s see how things go,” Lester said in a statement on his website. “No one ever knows what to expect on their first race. I could be first or I could be last, all I know is I have to perform and show everyone what I can do.”

It’s understood Lester will spend the two rounds evaluating a possible full-time campaign in 2019.
