Ginetta Junior graduate Luke Browning completed his first test in a British Formula 4 test at Donington Park.
The 16-year-old is the first driver to be confirmed for Richardson Racing’s 2019 F4 campaign, opting to continue with the team he’s spent two seasons competing in the Ginetta Junior championship as he makes his single seater debut.
Browning and fellow Junior race-winner Fin Green – the only other driver confirmed for the 2019 season – enjoyed running in mixed conditions at Donington, but the Richardson racer was able to achieve more than he was aiming for in his first day in F4 machinery.
“It’s been brilliant and was totally different to anything I’ve driven before,” he said.
“The team has done a great job to help me acclimatise to the car and I can’t thank them enough for that.
“The first half of the day in the dry, I was able to get into the groove and then I think we showed some good pace in the afternoon when it was wet.
“I’ve certainly ticked something off my bucket list today and I think we achieved more than we were aiming to for my first day in the car. The focus was to simply get some track time but we were able to go beyond that, and it’s a really positive start to pre-season for us.”
Testing will continue ahead of the 10-event season, which kicks off at Brands Hatch next April.
