Devlin DeFrancesco is looking to end the GP3 Series on a high this weekend in Abu Dhabi.
Almost two months since it was last in action, the finale of the 2018 GP3 Series takes place this weekend.
The highly technical Yas Marina Circuit is made up of long straights, mixed with long high-speed turns, accumulating in a notoriously tricky final sector.
Despite having never visited the Emirati track before, the young Canadian feels well prepared from his simulator programme.
“Abu Dhabi is such a cool place and the track looks mega. We’ve done a lot of sim work so I’m feeling prepared and ready to go,” said DeFrancesco.
During the 54-day gap between races, DeFrancesco rejoined the JDC-Motorsports team for a successful outing in Georgia for the Motul Petit Le Mens. Despite being only his second ever endurance race, he demonstrated his adaptability and raw talent ending the gruelling 10-hour race in ninth overall.
DeFrancesco joined the GP3 mid-season from the FIA European Formula 3 Championship, thrown into the deep end with zero testing under his belt.
Reflecting on his 2018 so far, DeFrancesco said: “The big focus now is trying to finish off the season as high as I can with MP and see what next year brings. I’m really looking forward to ending the season on a high with everyone who has worked hard with me in 2018.”
The track action begins with a practice session on 23 November at 10.15 local time.
