Oliver Rasmussen has been confirmed as Prema Powerteam’s fourth driver for the 2020 Formula Regional European Championship season, with the Dane moving up to Formula 3 machinery for the first time after two years racing in Formula 4.

Rasmussen raced for Prema Powerteam in the both the Italian and ADAC Formula 4 championships and finished on the podium multiple times in each, and the nineteen-year-old makes the move up the racing ladder with the team.

The teenager is following in the footsteps of countryman Frederik Vesti, who stormed to the title in the inaugural Formula Regional European Championship season in 2019, with Rasmussen aiming to return the Danish flag to the top step of the podium.

“I am thrilled to continue the collaboration with Prema stepping up to the 2020 Formula Regional European Championship,” said Rasmussen.  “I had a positive progression last season with the Team and was able to learn a lot.

“This will be a new championship and therefore a new challenge for me but adapting to this car already knowing the Team can only be an advantage. As a Dane, I will do my best to keep the Danish flag at the top of this category.

“I would like to thank everyone who was involved in making this possible.”

Angelo Rosin, the Team Principal of Prema Powerteam, says he is delighted to be able to retain the services of Rasmussen for a second season, and he is confident that the Dane will be a valuable asset to the team throughout 2020 in Formula Regional European Championship.

“It is great to retain Oliver for the 2020 Formula Regional season,” said Rosin.  “It was a pleasure to work with him last year and we look forward to seeing him grow up even further as he moves up the FIA ladder after Formula 4.

“We will do our best to assist him through this passage and we are confident that he will prove an extremely valuable resource for the team in its title defence.”
