James Hedley smashes Thruxton lap record to take double British F4 pole

2019 Ginetta Junior champion James Hedley grabbed a double pole position for this weekend’s race at Thruxton, setting a blistering lap of 1:13.005 ahead of Argenti Motorsport’s Casper Stevenson but a quarter of a second.

Early on in the session, it was the scholarship winner Stevenson that looked like the man to beat. But as the track began to ramp up through the 20 minute session, it was JHR Developments’ Hedley that found the most improvement.

Abbi Pulling rounded out the top three starting places, with a sensational performance that also gave her the second fastest time for race three tomorrow. shell be joined on the second row by Arden’s Alex Connor.

Championship leader Luke Browning will be joined by his title contender Zak O’Sullivan, with the latter winding up in fifth ahead of Browning in sixth, with just a tenth separating the two.

Roman Bilinski set the seventh fastest time for Arden, and will be looking for a good haul of points in race one this afternoon, with the potential of fighting for the reverse grid pole at race two later this evening.

Christian Mansell once again leads the rookie cup competition with an impressive eighth place starting spot for Carlin. but just .002 behind was fellow rookie challenger Frederick Lubin, who continues to improve and impress for Arden Motorsport. Rafael Villagomez rounds out the top ten, with the Mexican rookie returning once again after performing double duty in the French F4 championship earlier in the season.

Argenti’s Reema Juffali qualified in 11th at one of her strongest tracks, with Mathias Zagazeta down in 12th place for Carlin.
