The British F4 Championship certified by FIA, powered by Ford EcoBoost will be welcoming back a familiar name to the paddock for the 2021 season. Richardson Racing will be making a return after taking a year out in 2020, and will be fielding a multi-car effort, naming rising star and current Ginetta Junior Georgi Dimitrov as one of their drivers for next year’s campaign.

The 15-year old British-Bulgarian driver from Newmarket, Suffolk joined Richardson Racing in 2020 for a season in the Ginetta Junior championship – a familiar stomping ground for single seater hopefuls looking to make a leap into British F4. The rookie quickly shook off any doubt with a brace of wins at the opening weekend at Donington, followed by further wins at Knockhill and Silverstone amidst a slew of top ten finishes. He now has a top four finish confirmed ahead of the final race weekend at Brands Hatch this weekend.

“My goal has always been to race in single-seaters so I’m really excited by this opportunity, and it is great to be able too stay with the team after a strong first season together. I feel like I have been able to prove myself this in the Ginetta and it has been a good place to start my car racing career, and British F4 is the next step.

“If you look at the top three in the championship this season, they all raced in Ginetta Juniors beforehand, and a lot of drovers have followed the same route and gone on to do well. My aim is to follow people like that and try to work my way up the motorsport ladder.” said Dimitrov.

Team principal Gwyn Richardson was delighted to make the comeback into British F4, and was quick to outline the team’s ambitions for 2021 as well as praise his first signing in Georgi Dimitrov.

“We’re absolutely delighted to be able to confirm that we will return to British F4 next season, and that Georgi is the first driver to sign up for the programme. When he joined us at the start of the year in the Ginetta, we knew he was a talented driver from karting, but he really has exceeded our expectations.

“He hit the ground running from the very start of the season and has developed a lot over the course of the year, so we are confident that he will be Able to make an impression in British F4 in 2021 and challenge for some strong results.

“We’re talking to a number of drivers about joining Georgi in British F4 next season, with out goal being to put together a there-car programme for out return to single-seaters.” explained Richardson.

The 2021 British F4 Championship certified by FIA, powered by Ford EcoBoost is scheduled to to begin on the weekend of the 3rd/4th April at Brands Hatch in support of the British Touring Car Championship.
