Italian teenager Andrea Rosso has become FA Racing’s first signing for the 2021 Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine season.
The seventeen-year-old is stepping up into Formula 3 machinery after spending last year racing in Italian Formula 4 where he was a multiple race winner. He is the first driver to be confirmed for Fernando Alonso’s junior outfit.
Racing last year for Cram Motorsport, Rosso took three race victories as well as a couple of pole positions on his way to seventh place in the final standings.
“I’m really excited to take part in the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine with FA Racing this season,” said Rosso. “It’s a great step in my career as well as a big opportunity given to me by the team.
“I’m sure that with hard work, consistency and dedication we can achieve great results. I’m really looking forward to the start of the season which will kick-off next week at Imola for the official test days.
“I’d like to thank, from the bottom of my heart, all the people who made this possible, in particular my family, sponsors and management.”
FA Racing’s Paul Anthony has welcomed Rosso, who won the F4 Cup in the 2019 FIA Motorsport Games, into the team and he believes the Italian will fit in well and perform strongly in 2021.
“It’s wonderful to have Andrea in the team with us for 2021,” said Anthony. “He has proved extremely quick in Italian F4, and I’m sure he will seamlessly translate that speed to the Formula Regional car.
“He is a sensational first addition to our 2021 team, and I’m very much looking forward to working with him.”
Four of those who finished ahead of Rosso in Italian F4 last year – champion Gabriele Mini, runner-up Francesco Pizzi and race winners Dino Beganovic and Gabriel Bortoleto – will be in the field in FRECA in 2021.
