Swiss racer Axel Gnos will step up into Formula 3 machinery in 2021 after signing with G4 Racing to race in Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine.

Gnos is a familiar face at G4 Racing having competed with the team at Formula 4 level across the past two seasons, racing in both the Spanish and Italian championships.  In the former, he claimed a couple of podium finishes, while in the later, he claimed multiple top ten finishes.

The teenager is the first driver to be confirmed to race for G4 Racing, who are expanding their team in 2021 to include Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine for the first time.

“I am stoked to make the step up to the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine and to stay with the G4 Racing family one more year,” said Gnos, who is the son of G4 Racing CEO Quentin Gnos.

“It is already my third full season with them, and they are a very professional team. I cannot wait to make my European debut in the new series!”

Adrian Muñoz, the Sporting and Technical Manager at G4 Racing, has welcomed the news that Gnos will continue with the team for a third campaign, and he is confident the young Swiss racer will adapt quickly to the Formula 3 machinery.

“We are very satisfied to announce our first driver for the new Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine,” said Muñoz. “Having Axel make the transition from Formula 4 to FRECA is the continuation of a solid relationship that developed side-by-side with the team’s progression.

“I am confident that Axel will adapt quickly to the new car and circuits.”
