G4 Racing will field Belén Garcia for a few races in Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine in 2021 in rounds that will not clash with her commitments in W Series.
Garcia was set to race in Formula Renault Eurocup in a similar way last year before COVID-19 ended those plans, but the young Spaniard will race in the opening two rounds of FRECA with the new-to-the-championship outfit.
She will take to the track for the first time this coming week in the collective tests at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, with the first female racer to win an FIA Formula 4 race eager to get started.
“It is a pleasure to announce that I will join G4 Racing for the first rounds of the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine,” said Garcia. “I am confident that this will be the best preparation for the W Series, and I will make the most of it.”
Adrian Muñoz, the Sporting and Technical Manager at G4 Racing, says he is happy to have Garcia in the team, although he admits it is a shame that she will only be there on a part-time basis due to her commitments in W Series.
“I am delighted to confirm Belén García as a driver for our new Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine team,” said Muñoz. “Unfortunately, due to her full-time commitment to W Series, she will be with us only on a part-time basis.
“I have known Belén since she started with single-seaters in Formula 4. I am convinced that she will show the same talent and professionalism and adapt quickly to the car and team.”
