Alexandre Bardinon will race in the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine championship in 2021 after signing with Fernando Alonso’s FA Racing squad.
It marks a return to the series for the teenager, with Bardinon having competed in the championship back in 2019 with Van Amersfoort Racing, with a best finish of ninth coming at the Hungaroring.
The Frenchman raced again for Van Amersfoort Racing in EuroFormula Open last year and scored points in four races, with a best finish of eighth coming in the opening round, again at the Hungaroring. He finished the season sixteenth in the championship standings.
Bardinon is the second driver to be confirmed at FA Racing after Italian Andrea Rosso was announced last week, and he cannot wait to get what he hopes will be a competitive season underway at Spa-Francorchamps at the end of April.
“I’m extremely happy to able to join FA Racing for an assault on the FIA Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine,” said Bardinon.
“Especially, it’s a pleasure and an honour to be racing in the team fostered by none other than Fernando Alonso, who is one of my all-time heroes in motorsport. I want to do his name proud by collecting as many points as I can. I can’t wait for the season to get going!”
FA Racing’s Paul Anthony has welcomed Bardinon into the team, and he expects the eighteen-year-old to step up and perform at a high level throughout 2021.
“It’s a joy to welcome Alexandre to our team,” said Anthony. “He has proved himself well at this level in the past two years, and we aim to capitalise on that experience in the forthcoming season.
“I’m sure we will see him step up to a level that will take many of his opponents by surprise.”
