28-year-old Swedish rallycross driver Ida Törnhult will be one of the many newcomers that will be entering the 2021 RallyX Nordic season in the Supercar Lites class as she has teamed up with the world leading outfit Olsbergs MSE for a full-season campaign.
Törnhult who has some experience of the tracks from the Scandinavian grassroot sport Folkrace and also from some rallying events, will be stepping up to a four-wheel-drive machinery. She has plenty of experience in Folkrace including scoring a second place finish out of 130 female drivers in the largest event in Sweden known as Semesterracet in Vimmerby and also winning at Gestrikefestivalen.
Last summer despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic that halted her activities, she manage to keep her skills sharp by doing some Folkrace testing and also started to test the Supercar Lites machine for the first time, which lead to her decision to join RallyX Nordic and will be coming to start at Nysum in two weeks time.
“I’m looking forward to developing my racing skills with a faster car and competing against experienced drivers that I can learn from, I’m really excited about being part of such a strong team as OMSE and getting the help from guys with so much expertise.” Törnhult, said.
“My expectations are always to perform at the top, but this year will be focussed on learning as much as possible and really having fun – and if I can do that, hopefully the results will follow…”
