Russian racer Michael Belov will see out the remainder of the 2021 Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine season with G4 Racing.

Belov made his first appearance in the championship last time out at the Circuit Paul Ricard in France for JD Motorsport as a guest driver and went on to score two podium finishes.  However, because of his guest driver status he did not take any points from the weekend.

Alessandro Famularo’s three-race stint with the team has concluded after Paul Ricard, and Bélen Garcia’s focus now turns to W Series, this left G4 Racing with only one car for the rest of the season, which begins at the Circuit Zandvoort next weekend.

Famularo may return but nothing has yet been announced about the Venezuelan’s future.  However, Belov’s arrival gives Axel Gnos a team-mate for the rest of the season, with the Russian ‘really happy’ to be joining the series for the rest of 2021.

“I am really happy to have such a great opportunity this season,” said Belov.  “I’ve already worked with some people from the team, so I will not need to spend much time getting comfortable.

“I think we can get good results together with G4 Racing in these six events. Now I will patiently wait for Zandvoort and prepare myself to be in the best possible conditions!”

Adrián Muñoz, the Sporting and Technical Manager at G4 Racing, is delighted that Belov has joined the team for the rest of the campaign, and he believes the Russian will help the team progress up the grid after a pointless opening few race weekends.

“With the addition of Michael to our line-up, we will rely on an experienced and talented driver to guide the team and our rookies to quick improvement,” said Muñoz. “I’m really pleased that he joined us for the rest of the season.”
