Jamie Chadwick takes 9th Career Pole Position Ahead of Spanish Race

1 Mins read

After Jamie Chadwick took Miami by storm, claiming victory at both races at the W Series 2022 double-header season opener, she has yet again proved why she is the two-time W Series champion. The British racing driver set the fastest time in round three of the championships practice and qualifying, setting her up on the front row ahead of tomorrow’s race at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

The Jenner Racing driver beat Click2Drive Bristol Street Motors racer Alice Powell by 0.329 seconds in the hopes of extending her current lead in the W Series 2022 drivers’ standings.

Fellow British racing driver Abbi Pulling was the first to set the time to beat, running at 1:46:800, just ahead of Powell who ran at 1:46:864. It was a first close run with less than two-tenths of a second between the drivers who were running in the top five positions.

It was soon after this that Jessica Hawkins took pole with her teammate Powell taking it off her again, before 24-year-old champion Chadwick raced to the top, setting the time at 1:45:386.

It was another back and forth between Powell and Chadwick as Powell set a lap time one-tenth faster only to be beaten to the top again after Chadwick secured the fastest session time and pole position on her birthday for the 2022 season’s Spanish race.

2021 runner-up Powell will start in second with Racing X’s Abbi Pulling, who set an impressive time of 1:45:449, behind on row two. Alongside Pulling will be Beitske Visser who takes fourth position and PUMA‘s Emma Kimilainen taking fifth. Spanish drivers Belen Garcia and Marta Garcia are just behind taking sixth and seventh position for their home race at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on 21 May 2022.
