Jesse Love takes advantage of overtime restart; captures seventh ARCA win of the season

2 Mins read

In what looked like was going to be an easy victory for Luke Fenhaus, Jesse Love would have other plans.

Love, who dominated most of the race and led the most laps, was constantly challenged by numerous drivers, including Fenhaus, William Sawalich, and teammate Sean Hingorani. In the late stages, Fenhaus would pass Love for the lead, and felt like the win was right in the bag. With just over 10 laps, the caution would come out after a spin from Christian Rose in turn 2. On the final restart, Love would execute a perfect start, and overtake Fenhaus in the final laps to earn his seventh ARCA win of the season.

“This is such a phenomenal team,” stated Love. “I didn’t think I did a great job at saving my stuff and that came back to bite me when he came by. He was really fast and I was giving this thing all it was worth. I cooled down as much as I could, hoping it would pay dividends and it did. I dedicate this win to Dale Barker, who is our chapel member in the ARCA Menards Series. He lost his father this week and that’s tough. I can’t imagine something like that, so hats off to their family. This one is for them.”

Fenhaus, who struggled with restarts throughout the entire race, would settle for 2nd position.

“We just got a bad restart,” stated Fenhaus. “He got a good jump on me and beat me into Turn 1. It was pretty much game over from there. A lot of work goes into these cars and we thrashed our butts off today. Coming from the back to finish second isn’t too bad, but it definitely stinks.”

Sean Hingorani, who was one of the drivers that brought Jesse Love some competition, would come home in the third position. William Sawalich, who applied pressure to Love in the early stages of the race, came home in the 4th spot despite suffering nose damage after contact with Zachary Tinkle. Lavar Scott would round out the top five, with Conner Jones, Greg Van Alst, Andrés Pérez de Lara, Toni Breidinger, and Christian Rose rounding out the top ten.

The main ARCA Menards Series schedule will be busy as drivers will be prepared to run two races in a span of three days, their first stop being at Watkins Glen International on 18 August, followed by the first dirt race of the season at the Illinois State Fairgrounds Racetrack on 20 August. The next race of the ARCA Menards Series East season will take place at the Milwaukee Mile on 27 August, which is also a collaboration race with the main series.
