Hamilton Impresses In Croft BARC Test

1 Mins read

Archie Hamilton has been described as 'one to watch' by rival Dino Zamparelli after showing great pace during the two day official Protyre Formula Renault BARC Championship test at Croft in North Yorkshire.

The Hampshire-based driver topped the timesheets in five of the tests six sessions as he gave early signs of being title contender in 2011. Running with Fortec Motorsport, he set the quickest time in the first two sessions on day one, before being piped by Zamparelli by just 0.076s in the final session. He went on to dominate day two, ending the day 0.549s clear of his closest competitor James Thorp.

Hamilton is returning to the BARC series, that he last raced in during 2009, as he looks to get maximum track time from his available budget in 2011. Funds permitting, he is also hoping to compete in some international sportscar races later in the season.

Hamilton commented: “Having raced in Formula Renault BARC in 2009 I knew this was the right place to be to improve my driving and gain consistency and confidence. I'm already feeling much stronger on track and have developed as a driver. Hopefully that will translate into race wins. The times with Zamparelli were close so hopefully that will make for some exciting races and I can't wait to get to Donington in April.”

Archie will next be out in his single seater at the series next official test which takes place during its inaugural Media Day at Silverstone on March 18th.
