Porsche GB have announced they will be providing financial support to Daniel Lloyd for a second season in 2013, confirming the 20 year old's place on the next seasons Porsche Carrera Cup GB grid.
Lloyd's association with Porsche GB began in November, when he was named the 2012 Porsche Carrera Cup GB Scholarship winner. Competing in the Carrera Cup GB this season, Lloyd has taken three podium finishes, including a maiden win in only his sixth race, and sits fifth in the championship standings, enough to impress Porsche enough to provide him backing for another year.
“This announcement definitely came out of the blue – it's just unbelievable and, in a way, better than winning the Scholarship itself”, said Lloyd, “Porsche GB took a chance with me at the end of last year and now this amazing opportunity they've given me for 2013 proves hard work pays off.”
“It makes me really proud to know the people at Porsche feel I've done a good job in the first 10 races and that they want to give me another opportunity for next year. It takes the pressure off in some ways – as long as we can raise the rest of the budget we know we'll be back and it definitely sets a good foundation for the rest of 2012.”
