Carlos Sainz Jr: “P10 feels like a victory”

1 Mins read

Carlos Sainz Jr enjoyed a positive race day in Monaco, scoring a point despite having to start the race from the pit lane after a qualifying penalty.

The Scuderia Toro Rosso driver was excluded from qualifying for missing a weighbridge check, but had a strong race that ended with a tenth place finish, having made a set of the soft Pirelli tyres last an amazing 66 laps!

“What an amazing race, I’m very happy with the result,” revealed Sainz. “To start from the pit lane in Monaco, on my debut, and to cross the line in P10 feels like a victory!

“It was a very good race from the team in terms of strategy and tyre management. We worked for it very hard and completed a super long stint on the Soft tyre. This finally paid off and we managed to score a point.

“I was really enjoying it out there, I was quick and enjoying this unique track, I didn’t want the race to end!”
