Felipe Massa: “It is a frustrating result”

1 Mins read

Felipe Massa was left frustrated after leading the early stages of the British Grand Prix but ultimately falling off the podium completely following the late race rain.

The Williams Martini Racing driver made a superb start from third on the grid to lead the first stint of the race, before dropping behind Lewis Hamilton at the first pit stop cycle and then behind the second Mercedes of Nico Rosberg when the track became wet and highlighted the FW37’s short fallings.

“It is a frustrating result because the race was amazing today,” said Massa. “I had a fantastic start and we were fighting with Mercedes the whole time, it could even have been possible to win the race if it had stayed dry, which is great to see.

“It was a shame to lost positions in the rain. We waited one lap longer on the second stop, which is where we lost the opportunity to be on the podium. That shower also highlighted the car’s weakness in the wet.”
