Felipe Nasr achieved his highest finish so far of the 2016 Formula 1 season when he claimed twelfth place in the European Grand Prix in the inaugural race around the Baku Street Circuit on Sunday.

The Sauber F1 Team driver was able to stay with those ahead of him for a good spell of the race, and managed to stay ahead of both Haas F1 Team and both Renault Sport F1 drivers, as well as his team-mate Marcus Ericsson for the first time this year.

Nasr was happy with how he performed during the fifty-one lap race on Sunday, believing that they maximised their result, but after missing out on points again, insists the team still have work to do to become truly competitive in 2016.

“Overall, I am satisfied with my performance today,” revealed Nasr. “I fought very hard from the beginning to the end, so we can be pleased with P12.

“We maximised our performance on track as well as on the strategy-side. I was close to the points today, but just not close enough.

“I am satisfied, but we are still not there with what we want to achieve. We want to score points, and we are all highly motivated to get there.”
