Alfonso Celis Jr will get his fifth free practice outing of the season this weekend at the Circuit of the Americas as he replaces countryman Sergio Perez.

The Sahara Force India F1 Team reserve driver steps in to the VJM09 again after previous outings at Bahrain, Russia, Austria and Italy, although an appearance in his home event in Mexico is not possible due to his Formula V8 3.5 commitments in Spain.

Celis Jr is one of the drivers hopeful of replacing Nico Hülkenberg within the Force India line-up for 2017, and the twenty-year-old has combined his Formula V8 3.5 role with the AVF by Adrian Vallés outfit with reserve driver duties with Force India that has also seen him participate in several test sessions with the team this season.

Perez will return to the seat for the second practice session as Force India resume their battle with the Williams Martini Racing team for fourth place in the Constructors’ Championship, with ten points separating the two teams with four races of the season remaining.
