David Beckmann will remain in the FIA European Formula 3 Championship for a second season after agreeing a switch to the Van Amersfoort Racing stable for 2017.
The sixteen-year-old German moves across from Mücke Motorsport who gave him his debut in 2016, although he missed the opening two rounds of the season due to being under the age limit of the championship, and took two podium finishes at Zandvoort and the Hockenheimring.
“I’m ready for the next step in my career and Van Amersfoort Racing provides me with the perfect environment to make this step,” said Beckmann.
“Now, it is time to make good use of everything that I have learned this year and, together with VAR, go for race wins in 2017.”
Team Principal Fritz van Amersfoort believes Beckmann has the potential to be successful within the championship, and feels the team can unlock that potential to make him a race winner in 2017.
“In German Formula 4 and in FIA Formula 3, David has shown his skills and we got a close-up view of his potential,” said van Amersfoort. “This year, he scored podium finishes at Zandvoort and during the season finale at Hockenheim, where he also showed impressive pace in qualifying.
“Moreover, he did a fantastic job during his first participation in the Macau Grand Prix a few weeks ago. It is clear that he has what it takes to be successful, so we are all keen to help him unfold his full potential in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship with us next year.”
