Fresh from wrapping up third in the Formula Renault UK Winter Series driver Menasheh Idafar renewed his hopes for progressing to Formula 3, testing for the T-Sport team at Snetterton.
In the first of two days of general testing at the Norfolk track, which also saw Formula Renault and Formula Ford car on a crowded track, the British born Bahraini driver impressed the team driving a National Class Dallara chassis.
Six weeks after his last drive in the car he impressed the team, re-adapting quickly to F3 car, recording a fastest lap of 1:01.9 on the 1.9 mile circuit, a time only two tenths shy of the pace of Gabriel Diaz driving a Championship Class chassis after a season in which he finished runner up in the second tier National Class.
“It's been a very good day”, Idafar said at the close of testing. “At the beginning I had to get back into the style of driving the F3 car, after racing a Formula Renault for the last two weekends, but as I did more laps and gained more confidence it became very comfortable and I could push.”
It was expected that he would return to the track on Thursday for a second day of testing, his last testing of the year.
