Gavin and Salo head to Mad Croc Racing

1 Mins read

Oliver Gavin and Mika Salo are the latest names to be confirmed for the new FIA GT1 World Championship.

Following weeks of rumours that the two would be paired at Mad Croc Racing it has been confirmed that they will indeed be racing a Corvette C6R.R under the Mad Croc banner, but not together.

Perrti Kuismanen is set to be the lynchpin of the team as he will be taking part in all ten of the seasons races with Salo and Gavin sharing driving duties over the season.

With Gavin recently confirmed for the American Le Mans Series, driving for the Corvette Racing team, the Englishman is set for a busy year as he be running in eight of the ten FIA GT races alongside a full ALMS season.

There is some clarification needed on one date however as the Laguna Seca round of the American championship clashes with the GT1 round in Brno.

Mika Salo will team up with Kuismanen to form a 100% Finnish entry. “I wanted the best possible drivers and I am pleased that Mika is involved. He is an experienced and great driver”, said Kuismanen as he talked to the Finnish Broadcasting Corporation YLE.

“The GT1 Championship is a very strong championship and I know that the Corvette C6.R is a really competitive car. My calendar was empty and it was such an interesting opportunity that I will really look forward to it”, said Mika Salo to YLE.
