Formula One veteran Giancarlo Fisichella is to compete in the Le Mans Series this year the championship's organisers have confirmed.
The move follows Fisichella's unveiling as a reserve driver for the Ferrari F1 team as his last hope of a 2010 F1 race seat with Sauber went the way of Pedro de la Rosa.
The details of what car the Italian will be driving, and so in what class, is yet to be announced, though his Ferrari contracts will likely restrict him to either a GT2 class Ferrari 430 or a GT1 Maserati MC12, the latter now admitted to Le Mans rules series after being grandfathered into the new GT1 World Championship.
Fisichella looks set to join former Ferrari F1 driver Jean Alesi who recently signed to drive an 430 for the AF Corse outfit.
