Ferrari fans flocked to Monza this weekend to witness the first races of the Italian & European Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli where 46 F430s took part in the single-marque championship, marking the start of the 18th season.
The Italians got proceedings underway with the Motor/Piacenza drivers Giorgio Sernagiotto and Lorenzo Casé taking first and second places ahead of Stefano Gai in the Rossocorsa Ferrari. Gai took his revenge in the second race when he crossed the line first ahead of Andrea Belluzzi and Ricardo Ragazzi.
Further down the results the gentleman drivers in the Coppa Shell battled it out with Massimo Mantovani taking victory in race 1 ahead of Giuseppe Fascicolo and Erich Prinoth. Race 2 fell to Gianluca Carboni followed by Massimo Mantovani and Vincenzo Sauto.
In the European Trofeo Pirelli Championship Phillip Baron dominated both races taking home 2 victories, followed by Björn Grossmann of Germany who took two second places, Max Blancardi and Robert Pergl taking third spot in the first and second races respectively.
Brit Oliver Morley took a double win in the Coppa Shell ahead of Tibor Valint and Fons Scheltema in race 1, with Frank Gelf and Daniel Wächter joining him on the podium for race 2.
The Italian Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli heads back on track at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola on the weekend of 18 April, with the European series heading to the Parco Algarve circuit in Portugal on 23 May.
