100mph ride for Hundred year old Williams

1 Mins read

Saltney resident Elizabeth Williams celebrated her hundredth birthday in an unconventional style as he clocked up more than 100mph on a passenger lap around her local circuit at Oulton Park.

The speed demon was given the unusual present by her daughter Judith Jones, an actress who has starred in Coronation Street and Emmerdale.

The birthday girl was treated to some passenger laps in two high performance vehicles, and her first run was in the racing red Palmer Jaguar JP1 Le Mans-style sports car.

After the Jaguar run, Williams was then offered an extra treat as a passenger in the BMW M3, used for Oulton Park's RaceMaster and M3 driving experiences. In the driving seat was popular BTCC ace Paul O'Neill.

Speaking after the day, Williams daughter Jones said about the day: “When we saw the first car Mum was to ride in I have to admit I was a little apprehensive but Mum was thrilled! After her ride in the JP1 she was exhilarated and she jumped at the chance to have a lap in the BMW M3. I couldn't believe the speed at which she travelled but nothing fazed her. I can't tell you how delighted we all were with the amazing day the staff at Oulton Park gave us.”

About her experience, Williams said: “The experience was grand and it was one of the best days of my life! I don't know how I will top that next year, but I won't rule out a parachute jump!”
