Motara Takes Third Win To Extend Championship Lead

1 Mins read

Edoardo Motara lead home a Signature 1-2 at Norisring to extend his championship lead to 16 points in the Formula 3 Euro Series.

“It was a tough race. At times, I drove like in qualifying. But I knew that it would be difficult to overtake me, provided I wouldn't make a mistake.” said Motara after the race.

Motara took lead at the start of the race as he got the jump on Valtteri Bottas and Marco Wittmann and would manage to hold on to take his third win of the season.

“Together with my team, I opted for a different tyre strategy and therefore I knew that I wouldn't be very quick in the early stages of the race.” said Wittmann. “The restart after the safety car was my final change to overtake Valtteri. Although it was close, I finally made it.”

A collision between Matias Laine, Daniel Juncadella and Nicolas Marroc would bring the safety car out after the two Prema drivers collided.

Bottas was left disapointed after losing out on his second place to Wittmann. “The start of the race was good and I managed to put Edoardo under pressure. At the restart, I already saw in the rear-view mirror that Marco had a good slipstream and was therefore really quick. I couldn't do anything against his attack. I am slightly disappointed with my third place. But I don't give up yet. The season is still long and there are still eleven races remaining.”

Alexander Sims, Roberto Merhi and Carlos Munoz would make up the top six with Munoz marking his first-ever championship point finish in the Euro series.
