Glynn Geddie Named “Aberdeen’s Champion”

1 Mins read

Glynn Geddie may have ended the British GT Championship in second place, but he has still been awarded the honour of being named “Aberdeen's Champion”.

The award is given out every year by local newspaper the Evening Express, its readers able to nominate local heroes across six categories.

Unfortunately the award ceremony took place on Saturday 16 October – the same day Geddie was closing his British GT campaign at Donington Park. So it fell to Geddie's close friend Nicholas Gall to collect the award in the sports category from Aberdeen F.C. legend Joe Harper.

“I know [Glynn] will be over the moon with this award. I don’t think he was expecting to win it at all,” said Gall. “He is extremely talented at what he does and loves every minute of it. I am really proud of him and know he will be delighted.”

“It’s overwhelming to have won the 2010 Aberdeen’s Champion award, as I am well aware of the achievements of those people who were also nominated,” BRDC Rising Star Geddie added afterwards.

“I have to say a huge thank you to the Evening Express, and everyone who has shown their much welcomed, and appreciated, support by voting for me, and I’m very proud to have been nominated in the first place. I hope to achieve a lot more in motorsport, and will always be proud of the city I come from.”
