Porsche Carrera Cup GB regular Archie Hamilton will be taking one step closer to his dream of emulating his grandfathers success at Le Mans next Tuesday (19 October) as he takes to the track for a test in a LMP2 Oreca at the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours in France for Hope Pole Vision Racing.
After driving most of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB season in 2010 Hamilton has sat out the last few rounds as he tried his hand at new opportunities including British GT and an impressive debut in the Britcar 24 hour endurance race which saw his team finish tenth overall out of a 60 strong field.
“I am delighted to have the opportunity to test an LMP2 car, when I started racing in cars a few years ago it was a dream to drive a prototype, and now I am getting the chance.” said an enthusiastic Hamilton.
With no experience of the track Hamilton has been using his time wisely leading up to the test.
“I have been learning the Magny Cours circuit on the Simulator trying to get a good idea of the track. Hopefully the test will go well, and learn more and more about the car throughout the day.”
If the test goes well Hamilton is hopefully it could lead to a full time drive in the Le Mans Series next season admitting: “I hope the test will lead to bigger and better things”
