O’Neill Trades Honda for Chevron at Britcar 24 Endurance Race

1 Mins read

BTCC regular and fans favourite, Paul O’Neill, has secured a last minute deal to contest this weekend’s Britcar 24 Hours at Silverstone.

O’Neill will contest the endurance event in a factory-backed Chevron GR8 powered by Cosworth, which will run under the Track Tourque banner. He will share driving duties with former Le Mans driver Rob Wilson, Chevron regular Nick Jarvis and, Neil Primrose, drummer for the popular nineties rock band, Travis.

Britcar will represent O’Neill’s first 24-hour race, and the Cheshire-born driver admits he’s unsure of what awaits. “The longest race I've done prior to this is about three hours, so I have no idea what to expect from a 24 hour race – except for a lot of laps”, said the Widnes racer speaking to Motorsport News. “The Chevron is a great car but it can be hard work to drive, so mental strength will be the key. I've done night races in the BTCC but the biggest difference will be racing with faster cars on the same track”

With the qualifying and race expected to be wet, O'Neill will only have to look as far as team-mate, Primrose for the answer to, 'Why does it always rain on me?”
