Audi will expand its customer racing program with the Audi TT GT4 due to be available from 2012 with the aim of providing a more affordable option in motorsport.
The Ingolstadt-based manufacturer is already heavily involved in GT racing, with its R8 LMS model competing with great success at GT3 level.
The new car was unveiled at the DTM season finale in Shanghai, China and five time Le Mans winner and former BTCC champion Frank Biela showed off the car around the street circuit alongside the SP4T version of the TT RS and the R8 LMS.
The new car is based on the production TT RS, however, there are several stated modifications. A motorsport body – with bonnet, doors and boot lid made from CFRP – conceals a roll cage, safety optimized fuel tank box and a modified production suspension with adjustable dampers. It is all powered by a 340hp TFSI engine with an S-tronic transmission.
Audi aim to sell the TT GT4 for 120,000 Euros, while also targeting the Asian market it was unveiled in.
