In taking victory on the Jack Frost Stages Rally, Paul Bird made it a hat trick of victories on event, having won in 2009 and 2010.
The Penrith driver, co-driven by Kirsty Riddick, finished over one minute ahead of Martyn Tinker’s Lotus Exige on the mild, yet damp, event.
North Yorkshire’s Croft Circuit played host to the rally, serving up 40 competitive stage miles for the drivers to enjoy, and that Bird certainly did. Despite not getting behind the wheel of his Ford Focus WRC08 for months.
“I’ve not driven the car for five months so I’d forgotten what half the stuff did but as soon as we got into the swing of things, it all started to come together. The car has run faultlessly again and the DMACK tyres were awesome, we had no problems with grip all day despite the slippery conditions. Well done to the organisers, it’s a cracking little rally and although a couple of the chicanes were a little too tight, I really enjoyed it and I aim to be back next year to make it four in a row!” said Kawasaki World Superbike Team boss Bird.
Bird has his sights set on entering both the Wyedean, and the Malcolm Wilson Rally
