Tordoff Moves To Porsche Carrera Cup GB

1 Mins read

Renault Clio Cup race winner Sam Tordoff has signed for front-running outfit Team Parker Racing for his graduation to the Porsche Carrera Cup GB in 2011. Tordoff had his first taste of a Porsche back in October, when he was one of the six finalists in the Porsche GB Scholarship Programme.

2010 saw 21 year old Sam pick up two wins on his way to third place in the Renault Clio Championship, picking up the Graduate Cup class honours in the process. The Leeds-based driver, who was selected for the British Racing Drivers' Club Rising Stars Programme, also made his debut in the British Touring Car Championship with a one-off appearance at Brands Hatch.

Sam was desperate to pursue a drive in the series after his Scholarship experience, so is delighted to have joined Stuart Parker and his crew at Team Parker Racing.

He said: “It’s obviously a huge step up from the Clio Cup I’ve driven for the last two years. The driving style is completely different and the heel-and-toe takes a bit of getting used to. But, by the end of a day's testing at Donington Park I was lapping consistently quickly and my best time was only three-tenths off Euan Hankey’s qualifying time from 2010, which I was very happy with. To compete in the 2011 Carrera Cup GB with a race-winning team such as Team Parker Racing is fantastic.”

Stuart Parker is very pleased with his acquisition: “We are very much looking forward to working with Sam in 2011. It is always fantastic when you get young and motivated drivers in the team as their enthusiasm helps to push the team on. We will be looking to establish a good footing starting in February so we can be ready, ahead of what is going to be a very hard fought season.”
