Oulton Park is set to host a new historic motorsport festival in 2011, with the introduction of the Top Hat festival to its calendar on Saturday 12 March. The festival, run by Masters Historic Racing, will feature a variety of historic saloons, touring cars and sportscars from the last sixth years.
The festival joins Oulton's strong historic racing programme, headlined by the Oulton Park Gold Cup in August. The Top Hat festival will include an outing for pre-1966 saloon cars, a 1950s 'Oldies but Goldies' race and a contest celebrating 1970s touring and GT cars. The World Sportscar Masters series will also be on show, as well as a Gentleman Drivers' event featuring further historic sportscars and saloons.
James Beckett, Top Hat Event Manager, said: “We are delighted that we can start our season with a Masters first – our debut at Oulton Park. Many Masters competitors never get the chance to race here so we are really pleased that we can add something extra to their season, plus this will be the first historic race meeting of 2011 and is sure to be popular. It should be a great day.”
