1 Mins read

The 2011 Silverstone Classic – July 22-24 – will be the centre piece of the 50th anniversairy celebrations for the iconic Jaguar E-Type sportscar.

The UK's Jaguar owners clubs are set to assemble the greatest showing of E-Type machinery with further owners being their cars to Silverstone from around the world for fans to see.

The weekend's on track action will also have a special place for the E-type with two races dedicated to classic car. Nearly 90 E-Types are already registered with the event's organiser, the Historic Sports Car Club, with a grid of 50 race-prepared cars ready to be unleashed around the British Grand Prix venue.

A total of more than 1000 E-Types are expected to be at Silverstone of the event – the world's biggest historic racing weekend – with owners being offered special packages including discounted tickets and dedicated infield parking. Furthermore the Jaguar E-Type Club has set up the E50 Birthday Celebration package, which includes a run through the English countryside, a dinner dance in Stratford-upon-Avon and tickets to the three day Silverstone Classic.

“With so many E-Types on and off the track, it's going to be a fantastic occasion – the world's biggest and best celebration for one of the truly great sports cars,” says Event Director, Nick Wigley. “What's more, the Silverstone Classic offers the perfect place and timing for the world to celebrate such an important milestone in automotive history. After all Jaguar designed and produced the E-Types just up the road at Browns Lane in Coventry and the very first UK sales commenced in July 1961. It's going to be an absolutely amazing occasion – a party no classic car fan will want to miss.”
