Gaffney Moves To Ginetta Supercup

1 Mins read

Rob Gaffney has announced a return to Ginetta racing as he joins the new GT Supercup series for 2011. The 21-year-old competed in the inaugural season of the Ginetta Junior Championship back in 2005 and returns to his roots as he enters a G50 run by his own Meridian Motorsport team

After two years in Ginetta Junior's, Gaffney moved to the Renault Clio Cup in 2007 and stayed in the series for three and a half years. 2010 saw Rob compete in the first five rounds of the series for Westbourne Motorsport, before taking a break and returning with his new Meridian Motorsport team for the last two rounds of the season. He ended the year thirteenth overall in the standings.

Commenting on his switch, Gaffney said: “I'm really looking forward to the challenge that is ahead. We have a lot of work to do before the first round to make sure we are up to speed, as the G50 is new to me and the team but we feel we can challenge for the G50 Championship.”
