Chad Racing Confirm Full British GT Season

1 Mins read

Chad Racing have confirmed their return to the Avon Tyres British GT Championship with Iain Dockerill and a ex-BTCC man Steven Kane pairing up in a Ferrari F430 Scuderia sponsored by Green Apple Flooring.

As well as racing together in the Belgian GT Championship the duo paired to drive for Chad Racing in the two hour race at Silverstone last year, finishing a creditable sixth on their only outing in the year, and will return for a full season in 2011, Kane co-driving in a majority of races, though some other commitments on the Ulsterman's calendar clash with the full seven date British GT campaign. A stand-in driver for those races has not been announced.

“I became very involved last year in helping to organize things with the team and in the end it became more organizing and less driving,” explains Dockerill. “Switching to racing in Britain with my brother, Ivan, running the team, will hopefully leave me free to concentrate on doing what I enjoy.”

While other teams, including the new Scuderia Vittoria outfit co-run by erstwhile Chad Racing principal Piers Masarati, will switch from the 430 Scuderia to the 458 Italia model Kane and Dockerill will stay with the older car, set to appear in a bright green livery.

“It's a proven commodity, unlike the new 458, and I think that that will be advantage for us,” said Dockerill. “The field is looking extremely competitive for 2011 and with a lot of new cars it's all very unpredictable, although the Balance of Performance programme should even things out. We are hoping for some good results and, above all, to enjoy our racing.”

“We are very pleased to welcome the return of Chad Racing, Iain and Steven,” said championship manager Benjamin Franassovici. “I am sure that they will be able to build on the result they scored at Silverstone last season and it will be great to see another Ferrari – even a green one – on the grid.”

The first races of what promises to be a highly competitive series take place at Oulton Park, Cheshire on Easter Monday.
