The recent Porsche Carrera Cup GB Scholarship winners showed at Donington Park why they won the prize, with 2010 winners Euan Hankey and Michael Meadows both picking up a race win, while 2011 winner Benji Hetherington picked up his best result so far, all three underlining the value of scheme in bringing talented young driver to the series.
Hankey took victory in round three, his second of the season, to move him into third in the championship standings, while Meadows enjoyed the best weekend of his Carrera Cup career, taking his maiden win in round four to move to second in the points.
For 2010 Scholarship racer Hankey, victory in round three backed up his win in the opening race of the season at Brands Hatch to mark him as a major title contender. The Taunton racer now lies third overall in the championship points heading for rounds five and six at his home track of Thruxton. Hetherington meanwhile took his best result of the season so far with a fifth, the 19 year old looking ready to challenge for podiums.
Championship Manager Marion Barnaby said: “This has been an excellent weekend for Scholarship drivers. Race wins for Euan and Michael and a very good result for Ben underline the value of the Carrera Cup Scholarship programme.”
