Silverstone To Launch Radio Station

1 Mins read

On Monday 18th April, Silverstone will be launching a new 24/7 radio station, headed up by motorsport presenters Gary Champion and Alan Hyde. The new station will broadcast from www.silverstone.co.uk and be available on 87.7FM at all race events at the Northamptonshire circuit.

The station will provide live commentary of race meeting, phone-in competitions and campsite visits during race weekends, as well as dedicated motorsport programmes throughout the week, including 'Tin Top Tuesday', 'A little something for the Weekend' and the 'Silverstone Motor Sport Show.

Joining the presenting panel throughout the week will be Henry Hope Frost, ESPN rally presenter Jon Desborough and bike specialist Paul Musselle, who will host a dedicated programme to all things two wheels on Thursdays at 9pm.

The first programme, presented by Hyde, will be broadcast live from 12 noon on the 18th and to celebrate the stations launch, competitions will run with prizes in  behind the-scenes access with the Silverstone Radio team at the Formula One Santander British Grand Prix and Moto GP AirAsia British Grand Prix

Richard Phillips, Managing Director of Silverstone Circuit, commented “We have been running Silverstone Radio at our events for many years now and it is incredibly well received by the fans. There is not currently a UK radio station that is dedicated to motor sport, so we decided to take a concept that works so well at events and expand it into a 24/7 operation, to entertain, inform and interact with motor sport fans around the country.”
