On 28th-31st July Kris Meeke will be driving the new Mini John Cooper Works WRC around the legendary stages of Rally Finland. The event will be just the second World Rally Championship event for the Mini WRC Team, following its debut on Rally d’Italia Sardegna earlier this year.
In the video below you can experience what the cockpit of the Mini John Cooper Works WRC looks like from the co-driver’s seat. Kris guides you around his ‘office’ and all the controls that he uses.
One man who got to experience first-hand what it is like to ride alongside Kris on a rally stage was Daniel Peel, a fan who was lucky enough to sit in the co-driver’s seat as Kris drove the Mini John Cooper Works WRC along the special stage at Goodwood Festival of Speed last weekend.
“It was an incredible afternoon,” said Daniel. “Beforehand, I asked Kris if he would be taking it easy since he had a guest in his car.”
“I never give it less than 100 percent,” was Kris’ reply.
“He was deadly serious,” said Daniel. “For the first 30 seconds I thought: ‘Damn this is quick, we’ll never get around this corner … aaaaahhhhh’. The remaining 1 minute 48 seconds were the most exhilarating moments I’ve ever experienced on four wheels.
“Kris has a skill which has to be up there with F1 drivers. Simply incredible,” he concluded.
