Murrells To Miss Knockhill

1 Mins read

Ginetta GT Supercup driver George Murrells is going to miss the latest rounds of the championship at Knockhill this weekend after a couple of trouble-some weekends in the British Touring Car Championship-support series.

Last time out at Snetterton, engine problems ruined the reigning Ginetta Challenge champion's weekend. With the troubles leaving him 5mph down in the speed traps, Optimum Motorsport's Murrells was only able to take a best result of sixth over the three races, with a change of engine overnight not improving matters.  The new engine has been re-checked and given the all clear since, but despite this, George has decided to take a break to re-focus his efforts and return to the series in two weeks' time at Rockingham.

Since Snetterton, Murrells has also taken part in the latest round of the GT Trophy Enduro Series around the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit, finishing the three hour race first in class and third place overall with Lee Mowle in their Stewart Group Ginetta G50. Following this fine result, the Optimum team have decided to enter the Dubai 24 Hours race on 13/14 January 2012, with Joe Osborne and Gary Simms joining George and Lee.
