Positive Qualifying for CORE autosport team

1 Mins read

Gunnar Jeannette lead the CORE autosport team to pole position for the LMPC class in the #06 Excel Consultants / Composite Resources ORECA FLM09ALMS for the inaugural Balimore Grand Prix, marking the teams' third pole position from seven rounds.

With the qualifying session held up due to a red flag period with only six minutes to go Jeannette hit the track as the session resumed to take pole position in the final minute, securing it by just seven one-hundreths of a second faster than second place Kyle Marcelli.

Jeannette and team-mate Ricardo Gonzalez now head in to the race looking to repeat their winning performance from Long Beach earlier this year to reaffirm their position at the top of the 2011 LMPC drivers championship.

The sister #05 Bayshore Recycling / Composite Resources car will start from fourth position with Frankie Montecalvo and CORE autosport founder Jon Bennett looking to gain as many points for the team with a solid finish in quest for the 2011 LMPC team championship.

The schedule for the day was disrupted due to last-minute track construction following measures taken to reduce damage from the recent hurricanes. The result of this saw the two hour practice session shortened by 45 minutes with the qualifying being combined with the faster LMP1 class in a short 15 minute session.
