Lotus Sport UK will begin the final weekend of the Avon Tyres British GT Championship with high ambitions. Not only do Gary Ayles' team want both their Lotus Evora on the class podium, but they also want to cash in their outside chance of winning the GT4 class championship.

After consistent performances in the previous nine races of the year regular drivers Freddy Nordstrom and Leyton Clarke will start the three hour finale at Silverstone chasing the current points leaders – Marcus Clutton and Peter Belshaw.

The teams other Lotus Evora team won the class at Donington Park, Phil Glew partnered with BTCC driver James Nash for the GT 500 weekend. This weekend, however, will see Glew joined by Chris Holmes, who drove for a rival Aston Martin squad earlier in the season.

“Were delighted to welcome Chris into the team,” said Ayles. “He's a quick peddler and should work well with Phil. Obviously we can still clinch the GT4 title so let's hope Freddy and Leyton can do the business on Saturday, and bring home the GT4 championship to Lotus Sport UK.”

The testing ahead of the weekend left the Glew-Holmes combination the fastest GT4 entrant. “The car was mega,” said Glew .”We had a few teething issues with the gearbox early on, but then it was really hooked up! Looking forward to qualifying now.”

Qualifying – a single half hour session is scheduled for 10:40am Saturday, the race following at 3:55pm the same day. Lotus are hoping for typical October weather so they can take advantage of the Evora's proven pace on a wet circuit.
