Tom Sharp has announced he will return to the Ginetta GT Supercup for 2012 with family team IDL Racing.

Camberley-based Sharp had an incredible season in the 2011 Supercup, taking nine wins, including six in a row at the start of the season, as he challenged for the title, before eventually missing out by just 11 points. It was undoubtedly Sharp's most successful season in racing so far, but he is looking to go better this year and take the championship.

Sharp commented: “I never expected to have the run of form that we did and we'll be looking to take the title this year. This season has been great for us and to be named by Autosport magazine as the best driver in the Supercup and the 8th best national driver of 2011 means a lot. The next few months are going to be quite busy for us as we take delivery of a new car and get some testing miles under our belt.”

Alongside his Supercup campaign, Sharp is also hoping to compete in selected rounds of the British GT Championship in the GT3 class.
