Mike Simpson Testing The Ginetta G55 GT3 At Donington Park

Ginetta continued the extensive test programme for their G55 GT3 car last week when they took it to Donington Park for its first UK test with its new 2012 configuration engine. The new car has covered almost 5,000km in testing across the UK and Europe over the winter, with the majority of the testing being conducted by Ginetta chairman Lawrence Tomlinson and development driver Mike Simpson.

Mike Simpson said: “Having conducted much of the testing at Donington Park throughout the cars development in 2011, it provided the perfect baseline for a shakedown of the 2012 spec car. It proved to be an outstanding success, with the car showing a fantastic increase in performance from previous tests.”

Footage of the new G55 GT3 being tested can be seen here:

Ginetta is set for a strong presence in the 2012 British GT Championship, having already sold three of their new G55 GT3’s to Optimum Motorsport, Stark Racing and Team WFR. These will be joined on the grid by Century Motorsport’s two G50 GT4’s, Barwell Motorsport’s two G50 GT4’s and a G55 GT4 and G50 GT4 run by Team WFR.
