The start of last year's record breaking F3 Cup race at Silverstone
F3 Cup organisers Motorsport Vision Racing (MSVR) have completed the 2012 calendar by confirming a meeting on the full GP circuit at Silverstone as the penultimate round of the nine event championship.
The MSV F3 Cup which is open to F3 cars built between 1980 and 2007 – which already had a confirmed weekend running on Silverstone's shorter National circuit – will run on the same weekend as the Britcar 24 Hours (September 21-22). The weekend will be a repeat of the 2011 meeting in October, where the series was part of the largest ever single-seater grid assembled in the UK – 53 cars.
The second Silverstone date completes a calendar which also includes Donington Park, the Brands Hatch GP layout and a return to Spa-Francorchamps as the series' lone race on mainland Europe.
“Adding a third Grand Prix track to the F3 Cup 2012 calendar is great news,” said MSVR race operations manager David Scott. “These competitors will race at three great F1 circuits with Silverstone GP being added to Brands Hatch GP and Spa Francorchamps.”
“The stunning calendar for F3 Cup is now complete and we are just weeks away from the first race at Oulton Park International on Easter Monday.”
