Josh Wakefield Is Moving From British GT To The Ginetta GT Supercup
British GT race winner Josh Wakefield has announced a switch to the Ginetta GT Supercup for 2012 with Century Motorsport.
Wakefield will compete in the Ginetta G55 driven by team principal Nathan Freke in 2011, a car which took Freke to six wins. Wakefield moves to the series having competed with Century Motorsport in the British GT series last year, taking one class win at Oulton Park in a Ginetta G50 GT4 alongside Jake Rattenbury.
Wakefield said: “We had mixed success in the Brit GT in 2011, with a race win and podiums leading to a good finish in the championship, but we were held back by some unfortunate events. Lessons have been learned and we’re looking forward to making that experience count for the 2012 season. I’m very happy to once again be working with Century, they offer the best package for me and we only have one result in mind.”
Team Principal Nathan Freke added: “We have already worked with Josh for a season so know how to get the best out of him. He is still relatively young and has a steep learning curve ahead of him, but with enough dedication and focus I'm sure he will succeed.
“We have a strong package with the G55 and a proven track record. This will really help Josh fast track to the front of the grid and I'm sure he will flourish in the single make championship and bring us the results we are all hungry for.”
