Josh Wakefield had a solid weekend during Rounds Ten and Eleven of the 2012 Michelin Ginetta GT Supercup at Oulton Park.
Colchester-based Wakefield ran well during testing in torrential rain on Friday, however some set-up changes prior to qualifying didn't quite work, leaving him on the third row of the grid.
The first lap of the opening race saw Wakefield in the thick of the action, with an overambitious overtake from a rival damaging his front bumper, leaving him unable to get any higher than seventh.
The second race saw Wakefield run on the back of the leading group. The driver ahead received a drive through penalty, however took three laps to take it, delaying Wakefield in the process. By the time he had gone into the pits, Wakefield was too far behind the cars in front to make any progress and finished up eighth.
Wakefield said: “To take a positive away from this weekend we had the pace to finish on the podium. With the next race weekend only two weeks away I plan to translate this pace into some better results when we get to the Croft circuit.”
