Coates Joins ITV4 Team At Knockhill

1 Mins read

Ginetta GT Supercup racer Max Coates swapped his race overalls for a microphone as he enjoyed a stint in the commentary box at Knockhill.

Forced to skip the latest rounds of the championship due to continued budget problems, Coates was instead invited by ITV Sport to join regular commentator Richard John Neil to cover Sunday’s two Supercup races.

TCF blogger Coates joined John Neil to commentate on the day’s opening race, before assisting him in talking the viewers through the unfortunate start line incident in the live televised race. They went on to commentate on the rescheduled race later in the day, which like the opener was recorded and will be shown on ITV’s Motorsport UK programme.

“It has been a pleasure to work with Richard and the ITV4 team in the commentary box, I am honored that these people think highly enough of me to invite me in,” said Coates. “I really enjoyed myself; it is very interesting to watch the race from another angle.  I now understand what goes on in the commentary box which I think will help me in the future.  It’s something I’d like to do again, preferably not for a race I should be racing in but certainly for other series.”
