2012 Britcar 24 Hours: Hour 11 Update

1 Mins read

The Class 2 MP Motorsport BMW continues to lead the 2012 Britcar 24 Hours, as the race heads into the early hours of the morning.

The #28 BMW E46 GTR currently holds a 5 lap lead over the #16 MB Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT3, which also heads Class 1. The hour began with closest class on track getting closer, as the #51 Optimum Motorsport car began to catch the #75 Red Camel for the lead of the Class 4. The #51 caught the #75 throughout the hour, ending it on the same lap as the class leader.

At the front of the field, the #16 MB Racing car lost a splitter, but the team decided against replacing it, sending it back on track lapping at a slower pace.

The #60 Class 3 Perfection Racing Aston Martin GT4 ran as high as third in the overall classification during the hour, and was overtaken by the Class 1 MB Racing Aston Martin GT3 car as it makes its way back through the order.

During the hour, we saw our second exclusion of the race so far when the #56 Welch Motorsport car was pulled out of the race for continually breaking the 100Db noise limit. It became the second car to be excluded on these ground, joining the #76 Synchro M/Sport Honda Jazz parked in the garage.

The hour ended with the top two cars pitting. First, the overall leading #28 BMW pitted for a driver change, with Mark Poole taking to the wheel. Then, soon after, the second placed #17 Mosler pitted, and they too changed drivers with Paul White taking over. The Strata 21 team also changed break pads. The LNT Ginetta remained third in class, despite spending the whole hour in the garage.
